Melanie Albert, Creator of Plant-Based Food Art, Award-winning author, and speaker, is Founder and CEO of Experience Nutrition Group, LLC, in Phoenix, Arizona and author of “A New View of Healthy Eating: Simple Intuitive Cooking with Real Whole Foods.”

Melanie has been a leader in wellness, integrative medicine, and nutrition for nearly 20 years. Through hundreds of cooking classes, demos, and events Melanie has been teaching former NFL players, holistic practitioners, business professionals, employees, and kids how to simple cook meals with real whole plant-based food for 10 years.

My Plant-Based Journey…Melanie Albert

Plant-focused for over 30 years. I initially learned first-hand the power of eating real whole foods and plant-based foods 27 years ago. In 1993 my Mom was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer, and the conventional doctors gave her six months to live. I moved from my successful corporate marketing career in Kansas City to Cocoa Beach, Florida to be with my Mom and Dad. I read nutrition books (there were only a few at the time). I had already stopped eating meat in the early 1980’s when I noticed I could not metabolize it and I intuitively started eating organic food in the early 1990’s. I encouraged my Mom to eat organic and more plant-based food. And, with a positive mindset, I’m happy to say my Mom is 92 years old in 2022!

Turning Point. As it turned out, my Mom’s cancer was a huge turning point which dramatically changed the direction of my life to learn, and guide people to live a healthier lifestyle and cook and eat more plant-based foods.
9 Years Working with Andrew Weil, MD. After living in Cocoa Beach for seven years as a marketing consultant in the retail, sports, and integrative medicine fields (with MDs and hospitals), I had another life-changing opportunity. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona to work in branding, marketing, and licensing with integrative medicine pioneer, Dr. Andrew Weil / Weil Lifestyle, LLC. While working for Dr. Weil for nine years, I learned so much about food, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle.  

Certified International Health Coach with Integrative Nutrition. Based on Andy Weil’s recommendation I enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City, where I learned from world-wide nutrition leaders and graduated in 2007 as a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

4 Years Super Bowl/NFL. After graduating from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I decided to work with the NFL Super Bowl and created three products with the Super Bowl XLII logo in 2008, including a beautiful matcha tea kit. For two more years, I participated with the NFL / Super Bowl with plant-based catering at the Super Bowl VIP Tailgate Party and participation in numerous non-profit organization events during Super Bowl weeks.
Cooking with Former NFL Players / NFL Alumni. By talking with many former NFL players during the Super Bowl Week in Tampa, I became aware of the serious health issues – obesity, diabetes, heart, pain – of the former NFL players. To help improve the health of the players, I created a hands-on cooking program and taught former players and their families how to cook real whole foods for health and to reduce inflammation, the root cause of many health issues.  In 2011, my organization, Experience Nutrition Group, LLC, was honored to be an Official Health & Wellness Partner of the NFL Alumni Association and participated in nine healthy cooking, catering, nutrition events during Super Bowl XLIV Week In Dallas.

Holistic College Cooking Instructor. From 2014-2019 I had the wonderful opportunity to teach and create curriculum for the private holistic college, Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, in Tempe, AZ, where I taught Whole Foods Cooking on-campus and a series of online Culinary Courses, some which use my cookbooks as the textbook.

Live Cooking Classes and Events. I’ve had the opportunity to lead hundreds of hands-on cooking classes, demos, and events, and have guided thousands of people to get excited about simple healthy cooking with real whole foods. Over the years I’ve had the honor to work with organizations including Visit Phoenix, Valley of the Sun United Way, Humana, Inc., Gregory’s Fresh Marketplace, Downtown Phoenix Public Market, The Farm at South Mountain, City of Phoenix, Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Kids Camp, and Future for Kids.

Plant-Based Culinary / Cooking Training. A few years ago I decided to learn more in the culinary field to increase my knowledge and skills and to enhance what I could teach my clients. I completed the Rouxbe Professional Plant-Based Professional 200 hour Certification in 2015. In 2017-2019, I received 410 hours of culinary training with Fundamentals of Raw Cuisine with Matthew Kenney Culinary; Advanced Raw, Fundamentals of Cooking Foundation, and Superfoods with Plantlab Culinary.

I am very honored and excited to continue to share my culinary and nutrition learning with you and your organizations in your plant-based culinary and food art journey.

She has taught whole foods cooking at private college Southwest Institute of Healing Arts for three years, and Melanie received plant-based culinary training with Rouxbe, Matthey Kenney Culinary, and Plantlab Culinary.
